need DNS consultation

I will host main domain, lets say 'webhosting.com' on another server. Now as bonus for our customers who purchase our software we will offer free hosting account. Accounts will look like: 'john.webhosting.com' , 'aaron.webhosting.com', 'emily.webhosting.com' and so on. All these sub-domains will be hosted on this server. Now how to make them work? I would be automatic if main domain 'webhosting.com' would be hosted on this server too, but it will be hosted on other server. I don't think it is good idea each time you setup new subdomain on this server then go to the server where webhosting.com is hosted, and there manually setup DNS entry for subdomain. Can you offer any solution which would be the best ? Both are cPanel server. I was about to use 'Establish a Trust Relationship with a Primary Nameserver' function but my host provider didn't recommended this for some reason. Do you have any good ideas ?

Dear dendis, For this purpose you need to use Wildcard DNS Entry in your Zone File. As well as Wildcard Entry in your Virtual Host. Wildcard DNS Example. Wildcard Sub Domain Example. Best Regards.

Thanks to maximsupport.com But if later I will need to host these subdomains accounts on 2 or 3 different servers, will this solution work too?

Unfortuantely not. What this says: *.webhosting.com. IN A 192.168.0.1 is send anything.webhosting.com. to 192.168.0.1 You could take it one step deeeper and do.

This will of course mean that your clients subdomain addresses will look like john.server1.webhosting.com you could disquise it a little by doing something like: *.www1.webhosting.com or *.yourappname.webhosting.com

Have the server hosting the main website run the DNS. It can point the A records for the subdomains to the IP address of the second server.
