Any CMS that allows anonymous content submitions?

I don't quite know if this is the right section. I apologise if it isn't. Basically, I need a CMS that does not require content submitters to be registered or logged in. It should allow some random person who visits the site, to be able to post content relevant to the site. I should then be able to sort through the contents submitted and moderate/accept what I like. And yes, it SHOULD have a spam protection system in place, or have provisions for adding CAPTCHA or Math Protection. Will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

May be possible with Drupal. From what I remeber of the admin side of things "Guest" is a user group and you can assign it different rights, like to post comments and I guess post content. I don't know if it has the editorial system you need. What you could do is give "Guest" the rights to post content to a certain area/section/page that isn't actually linked from the main page, then have your editorial staff move it to the live area.

Well that's one way. I guess I'll have to settle for that if there's no other way out. Also, would a moderator please edit the word "submition" to "submission" in the title? It makes me wonder if I were drunk when I posted this thread.

Not sure if it's the right fit, but it sounds kinda like you need a wiki.

A wiki with some kind of editorial control, yeah. santoshgs, it would be an easy mod to most CMSs TBH. Just a flag on the article that marks them as live, and only an admin has the right to add the live flag..

A wiki? I don't think that would fit my requirement. What I want is a CMS, or perhaps even a script, that allows an user to choose a category, pen down his article/content, and then submit it to be reviewed by a team before it is goes live on the site. I want this to be available to unregistered members, mainly because from my observations, I know people are way too lazy to spend a minute to register. (take me for instance. I've been a lurker at WHT from years!)

Well if you two really do think that a Wiki might be able to allow this, well I'll give it a shot. Just one question though, since I don't want a website that even slightly resembles a wiki, how do I mask it? You said something about integration. Does Drupal/Joomla or any other CMS allow an integrated Wiki?

If the post/article isn't going to be edited again then I'd agree, a wiki hardly fits. Drupal is easy to extend and add to, there may even be mods that add this functionality, if not it would be one of the easiest to add to.

Well the post won't be edited again. That defeats the purpose of a wiki I suppose. Another idea came from a friend who is less internet savy. He suggested me to just put up a form with the categories in drop down boxes. That way, a guest could pick the category, write the post, and send it to me. I would then post it on the site under his/her name. Simple, yet effective. Thinking of giving this a try.

it should be doable with almost all cmses or forum scripts out there ? if you turn anonymous users on ?

I'm fairly sure you can do it out of the box with Drupal. Just add your special content type with default "published" unchecked and allow anonymous users to create content of this type. Then anyone can create this content but only users with higher privileges can publish it. There's no captcha built in but the MyCaptcha plugin is good.
