Help: Dedicated Server keeps messing up!

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me resolve my problem? My dedicated server keeps becoming totally unaccessable and requires me to reboot it, only to become unaccessable again 10 minutes later! My error logs show nothing so I don't know what the problem could be? Here is my specific info: Linux OS: Red Hat Fedora Core 6 Intel Celeron - 2.0 GHz 1 GB RAM RAID: None Thank you Last edited by talker7; 10-05-2007 at 07:20 AM.

Do you see anything on the console when it hangs?

Sorry, I am a major newbie when it comes to servers: could you please explain what you mean by that? Thank you,

Is logging taking place in the server? Restart syslog service and see if the server is logging. Check /var/log/messages service syslog restart

Inaccessible can mean a lot of things... but the most important bit of information you're leaving out is if you can ping the server or not? If you can ping the server, it's very likely one of your processes could be running away or Apache is under attack. You have to remember, that just because SSH and HTTP are not responding, does not mean the server is completely dead. Next time you notice this, ping the server and try and get an output from ps aux or top to see what's going on. If this happens a lot, leave an SSH connection open that does nothing but run top and if the server becomes inaccessible at least you will have a vague idea of where to start...
