email login in cpanel webmail doesn't work

So I created an email account in cpanel. But then when I try to click 'webmail' by that account, it won't work. It takes me to the option screen where I can click Horde Mail or Squirrel Mail. After I click either one of them, it then just takes me to a log in screen like it didn't accept my login info. I try typing in my username and password but it doesnt work. Is this a permission thing I need to set in WHM? I'm clueless.

Do you have POP working in the server? I suggest to test connectivity directly on port 143 (IMAP) using telnet. # telnet IP 143 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Your username is your full e-mail address, password the one you typed when you created the account. Of course you are not logged in to webmail.

I don't understand what they're talking about in that thread. It seems like the same problem, I just don't see the way they fix it. I am a noob here and don't know much of anything when it comes to servers.
