Hey guys, I know there are many discussion on Cloud offering, but this is what we plan to go ahead with cloud offering, 1. Building the Cloud with VMWare 2. Using OnApp as the Cloud offering platform 3. 2x SAN for HA 4. Server Farm For a start, what will be a good size for the server farm and SAN to start with? Any recommendation for hardware/server/SAN that is scalable, so we can add-on easily when required? And feedback?

I don't believe OnApp yet supports VMWare. May want to check on that. Rest of it looks alright, What San's units are you looking at? 3Par is probably one of the best brands out there right now. With the Thin provisioning. (Only uses what it needs) Some of HP's Storageworks are pretty decent and scalable.

You can use Xen or KVM on OnApp

KVM better than Xen? In terms of quality, support and ease of use?

I think that quality and ease of use is on par with Xen. It is the new kid on the block, so there will be less people using it, meaning that there is probably less documentation. But it is gaining traction. I do know that KVMs are generally faster than an equivalent Xen VPS, according to a bunch of articles and reviews that I've read.

KVM is closer to paravirtualisation, so it allows a host to oversell cpu, ram, etc - xen guarantees resources (unless you want to seriously risk stability)
