| does a shoutbox take up a lot of bandwith if there are 2-3 conversation going on all the time?

| No, it won't. Still depends on the script and what is "lot of bandwidth" for you.

| If you ad it to a forum on every page it can add overhead because its getting hit every page load just with regular forum use. But on its own then no, its just bits of text being inserted and read.
