Setting up Mirror hosting

2 servers in 2 different continent. One will be primary and the other is redundant. It will be controlled by DNS fail over service. Question: 1. What is the things that i need to consider before setting it up? 2. What is the best way to sync the data and databases?

1. What are your other points of failure? DNS? Handled externally or do you have an external solution already? 2. There's tons and tons and tons of documentation and software out there to handle high availability data replication. Just ask Google

There have been a couple of similar threads on this in the past week or two - you might search to find them. It really depends on what OS and applications you're running. On Linux, static content can be easily synced with rsync, and MySQL now has the ability (as of 5.0) to do real multi-master replication, but there are some application limitations that you need to look into to make sure it is compatible with your app. One of the main things you need to consider is how much downtime you can afford - the less you can tolerate, the more complex and expensive your setup needs to be.
