SSH help

Posted by HL90, 07-18-2008, 05:52 PM
I just bought a dedicated server and an account at bqbackup.com for backing up my sites. But the problem is that I have to use SSH and I never worked with it. I've tried to login but somehow it doesn't work and doesn't have acces to it. Can someone maybe help me trough email or PM's? I'm willing to pay you. I have already asked a few times but no one replied back I really hope that someone can help me.

What port you are connecting to? Have you changed your ssh port? or installed a firewall but not leaving port 22 opened?

I'm connecting to port 22. I've tried to acces another server from someone else just to check it and it works. Maybe there's something wrong with my DirectAdmin? Is it possible that I don't have SSH at my dedicated server?

SSH works now. I had to ask my host first. The only problem now is that I dont what to fill in after [admin@rent16 ~]$. I get this if I log in: login as: admin admin@domain.org's password: Last login: Sat Jul 19 14:13:49 2008 from xxxxxxxxx.xxxx.xxxxx.nl [admin@rent16 ~]$

If you don't have any experience with working on the command line (shell), as it seems to be the case, I think you'd be best off to hire somebody to do the work. In this case, the installation of a script that performs backups on a regular basis.
