nslookup returns old ip address

After changing the dns of my dns registry in my GOdaddy account changing from my provider to my own DNS server the domains running on my dns names stopped working. it runs serverfails and such, which they haven't done before. if i do a NSLOOKUP it returns my provider dns ip's but it should return MINE dns ip's i presume what am i missing?

Depending on the TLD / GoDaddy it can take a few hours to show up.. give it 24~ hours to be safe . I'm personally waiting for a ".me" TLD domain to have its name servers changed as well.

i am not so if its the update. cos the NameServers haven't been changed.... only where the pointing to... so that should not require any updating. this is the outcome of the tests i did: >$ host -t ns mydomain.com. Host mydomain.com not found: 2(SERVFAIL) ------------------------------------------ >$ host -t soa mydomain.com. Host mydomain.com not found: 2(SERVFAIL) ------------------------------------------ >$ host [mine.ip.ad.res] mydomain.com Using domain server: Name: mydomain.com Address: [mine1.ip.ad.res]#53 Aliases: res.ad.ip.mine1.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer reversedomain.com. >$ dig @ns1.minednsdomain.net mydomain.com NS ; <<>> DiG 9.2.4 <<>> @ns1.minednsdomain.net mydomain.com NS ; (1 server found) ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: SERVFAIL, id: 55872 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;mydomain.com. If you've delegated to nameservers that return servfail, there's no point waiting - it won't fix itself. Servfail usually means the zone file is bad in some way so BIND refuses to load it. Try editing the zone file for mydomain.com, restart BIND and watch for errors that might give you a clue about what's going wrong. If it's CPanel you can use the WHM Edit Zone form. Edit: that server you see in the nslookup result is the resolver used by the machine you're using to run the lookup - nothing to do with the nameservers you've delegated your domain to. run it through http://www.checkdns.net/quickcheckdomainf.aspx and see where it fails, it may give you some extra clues.
