Hi,
If you cannot change the permissions on the folder your ftp user account is not the owner. You either need support to make it the owner or you need to change the permissions in cPanel.

Thanks for ur reply.....
I tried both but i was not able to change the permission....Even if i logged in with my admin Id through cmd>ftp sitename ...its showing as group acces permitted ....thats the reason i was not able to change the permission i guess.
Is there any way to get back the my admin id????? r i have to contact the hosting company?????
Could you please tell me what kind of support i need????

You will want to contact the hosting company as they will have full access to the machine. As they might have updated something for you and forgot to change permissions back to your user:group which will give you the access denied message.
