Available RAM Windows Enterprise 2003

Posted by repairer, 05-11-2009, 10:22 AM
Hi, I am running a server with Windows Enterprise 2003 installed, it has 32GB RAM installed but in control panel I can only see 15.5GB RAM, I understand graphics cards etc will take some of the RAM so I suspect Windows is only seeing 16GB, instead of the installed 32GB, anyone any idea as to why I do not see all 32GB. Thanks Pete

What does the bios report? My first guess is that you have the ram sticks improperly installed. Last edited by Collabora; 05-11-2009 at 10:56 AM.

Hi, BIOS is showing 32GB, its in banks of 4, 8GB in each bank, the server is a bit unusual, its a Uniwide. But I can see all the RAM in BIOS. Thanks Pete

Can you provide a screenshot of what you are looking at?

Hi, Yes this is BIOS screen shot, also did one of section of system in control panel, cut out part where it shows windows serial number, was not sure if it displays all the serial number here so did not want to display it online. Thanks Pete Attached Thumbnails

Can't read the system info -- too small. (It won't show serial number, just product id) Run Winver and take screenshot.

http://www.lavalys.com/products.php?...lid=35&lang=en Install and copy what it says. For example: Motherboard -> Memory; Field Value Physical Memory Total 16376 MB Used 1886 MB Free 14490 MB Utilization 12 % Also check the SPD (Motherboard -> SPD) and check how many modules it sees and what size they are (in GB)
