Credit Card Fees ??

Posted by freew, 10-21-2002, 12:44 PM
Anyone have any info on if this will effect Paylap, 2checkout, etc.. Credit card companies such as Visa and MasterCard have brought out new regulations for a new category of merchants called Internet Payment Service Providers (IPSP's). The changes include new fees to accept particular credit-cards: Visa will require an initial registration fee of $500. Visa will require an annual renewal fee of $250. MasterCard will require an initial registration fee of $1,000. MasterCard will require an annual renewal fee of $500.

probably not, seems like they are just trying to get a bigger piece of the pie, PayPal for one is owned by e-bay, a multi-billion $$$ (in stock) company, an extra couple of thousand isn't going to break them, but it may keep some people who shouldn't be doing this, out of the business..just some

The fee is per account, not just one fee for the processing company... for example - if YOU wanted to use paypal they would have to charge you the fee to get started.

Hi, I seem to remember reading about this somewhere and I believe the new fees only apply to adult sites etc.... May be wrong though.

i think i remember reading it in WHT forums only, and it mentioned that this fees will apply only to adult sites but not the small hosting companies. Dunno if i am right or not. But would like a post on this to clear the doubts. Thanks, Bob

Could someone clarify who the new fees will apply to?
