Hi was trying to access httpme.com but i couldn't. any idea why it is not accessible at the moment? are they still around ? thanks.

yes, it's down for me as well. A traceroute shows hop 14 isn't letting any packets through. but I'm 100% sure httpme.com is still around, just some temporary problems with nac. =================================================== === VisualRoute report on 19-Mar-03 12:12:37 AM === =================================================== Report for httpme.com [216.118.109.68] Analysis: IP packets are being lost past network "Net Access Corporation NAC-NETBLK03" at hop 14. Ahhhh, yes, we're still around. Just rebooting after a kernel upgrade. Just our main site. No client's servers etc. Last edited by Chicken; 03-21-2003 at 09:38 PM.

Latest redhat kernel upgrade? That thing was a pain...

Shame on you! Don't you send notices before rebooting? Besides; it took you ten minutes to find this thread. Is your NB Bot™ running slow? Have another . . .

Oh great. Just wanna check out the packages. Thanks for your quick reply. Actually, i'm looking for a reliable webhost provider and i have a question to ask. Is there a policy that protect the client when a webhost provider closes their business without notice?

Posted by AussieHosts, 03-19-2003, 01:36 AM
Yes, your own policy of always doing thorough and extensive research and selecting a reputable and well established provider, before you part with your hard earned cash. httpme is one of those. Cheers Gary

Not really, you'd have to chase after them to get money back (if you prepaid let's say for a year).... best bet is to stay with a reputable company, like httpme... and I like to think us too .

What i mean was, webhost provider can't simply closes down their business without notice right? I'm just worried that when i get their reseller program and start to have clients coming in, then my provider closes down their business and leave me in havoc and frustration on how am i going to face my client.. when all their files are no longer around. If that happen, can i sue the webhost provider?

Posted by trustedurl.com, 03-19-2003, 02:00 AM
Sure they can... shouldn't happen, but it could... (do a search in the reseller section... you'd be surprised!) You can sue them, but if they're out of business and there's no cash... get what I mean? That's why it's best to just pay month-to-month and be with a respected host.... and don't go for those cheap deals... 'cos I've said it before and will say it again: something cheap now doesn't mean saving money in the future....

Yes, any company can close shop at any time. One would hope they give notice though. Try to research which companies have been around and know the ropes for some time. HTTPme again, is one of those companies.

Of course they can. There's usually a "human" element to that though. Bad management...bad intentions...over-spending, etc. It's no different than "Crazy Joes Cheap Autos" not being there when you take your car back for some warranty work. The local Ford dealer is more likely to be around. Gary

hmm.. then i'm looking forward to httpme.com. eager to browse his site now.. but not available at the moment.. thanks everybody for all your replies.

I can also suggest looking at getmehosted.com. I feel safe to suggest to anyone looking for quality services at reasonable costs Last edited by Chicken; 03-21-2003 at 09:32 PM.
