Are you wanting to provide Cloud Hosting? If so, invest heavily into good redundant SAN units or find a solution that utilizes local storage as opposed to network storage (Like AppLogic). Tell us a little bit more about what you want to actually do an accomplish, and we can tell you what hardware you could use to get setup.

When it comes to Cloud servers, Either beginning or live setup, expenses are high.

+1 indeed, make sure you have plenty of budget available or else you can find yourself in some major debt burdens.

The higher end cloud providers will have invested significant money into building their cloud platform, with most of that spend going into the SANs. On the flip side their are cloud providers out there offering cloud on "home-brew" SANs and servers which of course are a lot cheaper. The problem comes in the belief that cloud is much more reliable than other forms of hosting. If you have built your platform on a flimsy home brew platform you are highly unlikely to achieve the reliability that your customers will demand.

You aren't going to do it on the cheap and be reliable. Between hardware, colo, bandwidth and licensing costs you are going to spend some money.

Expect to spend -a lot- and plan your business model on the basis of underselling your platform and servers to a fair degree. Cloud is the opposite of the shared hosting stack-em-high model of the last ten years.
