r1oft coexisting with cpanel

I recently started using r1soft cdp for a production server. While there are many things I like about r1soft, it does seem a little flaky from time to time. I'm looking for a recommendation for a complete solution. 1. While r1soft is great for restoring files and directories, how do you deal with cpanel accounts? What do you do when you need to restore a deleted account? It seems to me that r1soft is not suited for this. 2. I assume many run both r1soft and cpanel backup. How would you suggest to coordinate this? Cpanel backups weekly and restore the rest with r1soft? 3. What if a server's hard drives crash and have to be replaced with non identical drives? Since r1soft is using block data, would this render it useless in such a situation? Thanks.

1) Usually we just use cpbackup before deleting account and leave it somewher for about 1-2 month just for case if customer would like renew his account and back to us 2) We do not use this way but it look as not bad idea 3) You could restore whole hdd even if it has more size (with some trics - more info could be found at wiki.r1soft.com) but for cPanel you actually do not need restore whole hdd. Recommend way is reinstall O/S, install cPanel and then restore cpanel system files as well as accounts /home folders and mysql databases

Thanks, but let's say I I do os reimage and cpanel install and use cpanel backup to restore accounts and then use r1soft to give the user accounts the updated data, will r1soft be able to restore the "home" data if different hard drives are used? If you do not use cpanel backups to recreate accounts and settings, what extacly do you use from r1soft backup to restore cpanel configuration and user account settings(/etc/virtual, etc)? Also if I would not be doing a bare metal restore, would I be better off with CDP Standard Edition which uses Disk Safe 3.0 as opposed to 2.0? Does the Standard edition not support cpanel and mySQL addons of some sort or is that only in the enterprise edition? Last edited by roccol; 05-24-2010 at 07:39 AM.
