Switching resellers

I'm thinking of getting in to reselling webhosting but i was thinking about the process of how to switch between resellers. How is this actually done. Lets say that you have 120 customers all with websites, mysql databases, forums and so on.... how is it possible to switch all these customers to a new reseller account? You can't like 'export' everything can you? All the customer information in WHM like payments and stuff will probably be gone? Can someone please enlighten me because i have absolutely absolutely no clue how its possible to do such a thing. Thank you for your time.

If you using WHM (as you mentioned), your hosting accounts can be cloned on a different server. All the data, email accounts, MySQL DB etc. can be copied on the different server using WHM without any issues

And I ahve found in my own searching for a new reseller that all will do this for you to help your transition go as smooth as possible! All you have to do is ask...

the subdomains created in whm as standalone accounts will give you a hard time but they can be done manually.

There is a known issues with Add-on domains in WHM, if you are using that at all.

Actually though 120 customers I think you are ready for a dedicated server.

I was going to suggest a dedicated server as well but then I though that if he doesn't know how to migrate his own client from one reseller to another, I don't think he's ready. For your next host, I'd email all the hosts that you're interested in and see if they are willing to help you move to their servers or not. I'm sure if they're committed to their customers, they'll do it free of charge. Good luck!

Hunkman, if you are uncertain and the process is completely foreign to you then, like myself you probably want someone who will really hold your hand and give maximum assistance. This is what rs hosting did for me. I had never even used whm or cpanel with my previous hosting company and had no clue! I also had major hassles with my registrar and getting the nameserver set up and there were times that I was almost beside myself with sheer frustration. I'm fairly pig-headed and always try to do things myself before asking for help, but frequently, out of desperation I'd end up putting in a ticket with RS. Within minutes I would have a response. They were my sanity through the process and answered every one of my (sometimes really dumb) questions with absolute patience. By the time that I set up my second reseller account with them I had learned so much from them that I needed almost no support at all. So many times I'd ask how to do something and the immediate response would be a solid and clear explanation, plus an offer to do it for me! More than once I took them up on it and within minutes I'd get an email saying that it was done and telling me (yet again) to please ask them when I needed help. It actually became quite an embarrassment because I was sending tickets and emailing numerous times a day, day after day after day. - All due to my steep learning curve and problems that not once had anything to do with rs. Before I joined them I found numerous posts about them and couldn't believe that any hosting company could be that good. Their customers sound like groupies in some of the posts. What can I say, I've become one myself.
