Posted by bukzrock, 02-02-2013, 06:38 AM |
Hello
I installed Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition through KVM to my server.
Now Installation is completed. I can login to the server through KVM with my windows password.
But when I'm trying to access my server through windows remote desktop .....password is incorrect.
I reset password in several times through KVM. But password is wrong through the windows remote desktop .
Guys please help me.

http://www.serverintellect.com/suppo...-password.aspx - the Remote Desktop may and almost always uses a different password than your win login.

Have you checked to make sure the user has remote desktop privs?

Vex76 - the remote desktop password and the windows logon password are the same, assuming you're logging into the same server and user account. I'm also a bit suspicious about the page you linked to as the technique they're using to reset the password will render any encrypted files owned by that user unreadable - it even mentions this in one of the screenshots. To reset your own password, you should use ctl-alt-del (or ctl-alt-end inside remote desktop) and use the 'change password' option. This will preserve encrypted files.
bukzrock - as Jon mentioned, it's possible that you have the correct password but your account doesn't have access to login via remote desktop. Double-check the message you get when you try to log in - it might look similar to the 'invalid password' message, but it reads "To log onto this remote computer, you must be granted the Allow log on through Terminal Services right... [etc]" If you're getting this message, then you need to log on with an admin account and add your account into the appropriate group. One other thing I'd check - make sure you are connecting to the correct remote ip address. I've done this before - trying to log into someone else's server with your own username/password doesn't work!

By default, Administrator accounts have RDP privileges (assuming RDP is enabled). If it's a regular user, you need to add them to the RDP group.
Enable RDP:

Admins can RDP by default:

Non-Admins need to be added to Remote Desktop Users group (if you want them to have RDP access):
