What type of specs are you looking for? Windows or Linux?

1 EZPZHosting - great support and I don't think Dan at EZPZ ever goes to bed!

Hello Welcome to WHT I understand your looking for a cost effective Reseller Plan with UK servers and i also assume a UK Company. Firstly, do you have hosting already that your looking to move? How many domains do you have and how many domains do you expect to add within 3-6 months? Most hosting companies allow you to upgrade your reseller plan as you need more space so you maybe able to start on a budget plan and upgrade as your company grows. What is your budget for your reseller hosting plan?

How many sites are you looking to host ? What technologies do the sites require ? PHP ? ASP ? ASP.NET ? Ruby ? Java ? What do you define as reliable ? 90% uptime ? 95% ? 99% ? 99.99% ? Will you require assistance moving any existing sites over ? How do you want to pay ?

Welcome aboard.. Glad you are looking for suggestions on finding a reliable host here on WHT - the best place to find such companies.. First of all you may need to judge your disk space, bandwidth, account limits and other features such as php, mysql, datacenter location, control panel, OS choice etc.. Based on your requirements, you may need to search a company that has its datacenter in UK (since you mentioned you are looking for UK web hosting) and their plans.. Shortlist a few of them, check for any ongoing offers from the WHT offers section or by contacting those certain hosting companies from their website. Once you have a list of such companies ready, then compare them based on their recommendations and this should give you a handful of companies in the end to make the final decision.. One thing that you may need to keep in mind is make sure you choose a host that offers any kind of moneyback guarantee - so that you can claim it, just incase if anything goes wrong or if you are not satisfied with them. Also, it is advisable to always go for a host that offers easy upgrade paths.. Just so that in future you need more resources, you should always have the option of upgrading to the next higher level of hosting such as vps or dedicated or so. Ofcourse you have the choice of finding a new host at this moment, however you always have an option to upgrade with your existing host if you are satisfied with their performance - thus making your life easy Good luck with your search.!

This seems like a stupidly obvious question, but are you currently based in the UK, or would you simply like to offer UK based hosting? I only ask this, as usually i would recommend a host that is based in your own country of residence. For example, if you're based in the states, you can get the benefit of support from someone in your own country, but have servers in the UK. Best of luck with your search either way

Thanks a lot for all your replies guys. Let me try and be more elaborate with my requirements. 1. I have UK customers and so I need UK based hosting. 2. I already have around 15 websites hosted and plan to host 4-6 websites every month. 3. I need a UNIX server which offers unlimited SQL databases and unlimited dedicated IPs. 4. Unlimited domains 4. A 24x7 live support Budget within 20 GBP a month Let me know if you need to know anything more from me. Thanks a million for all your advice. Seems like I just found the right place for my hosting queries

Posted by CyberHostPro, 09-28-2010, 04:36 AM
A Reseller Plan would suit your needs perfectly over VPS etc. Have you used WHM/CPanel before? this is a Linux based control panel which is very popular, plenty of hosts use it as its very user friendly. 24x7 live support some hosts do offer. Unlimited domains.... do you really need unlimited? even 1000 domains is allot but not unlimited. Do you need anything like Daily offsite backups & restore tools? Website Builder? SSL ? automated software installers... £20 a month too is a good budget for a medium spec reseller account.

Posted by blackystrat, 09-28-2010, 04:41 AM
Chris Yes I am looking specifically for a reseller UK hosting. A limit of 1000 domains, yeah that's a lot and would be more than enough. Yes I am familiar with WHM and cPanel and use it on a daily basis. I would like to have daily backups and automated script installers as well - such as fantastico, installatron etc No site builders or SSL required at the moment. Thanks!

Is that budget *per site* and can you provide adequate justification for any of the IP Addresses ?

Posted by blackystrat, 09-28-2010, 01:04 PM
That budget is for the reseller hosting per month - not per site. As for IP addresses - our customers demand to be hosted on unique IPs - what other justification do we need to state? thanks

Posted by astutiumRob, 09-28-2010, 01:41 PM
Because your customers "demand" an IP is not a valid technical justification, so any legitimate supplier is going to require you to explain to your clients that they cant have and don't need an IP address ...

Posted by tepid, 09-28-2010, 03:00 PM
You need to prepare a real good justification for the IP addresses. IPs are real scarce now and one who demands does not get it. You need to be one who needs the IP.

Posted by 040Hosting, 09-28-2010, 03:15 PM
As several have told you already; needing IP's because your customers demand it is not a valid reason for RIPE to provide you those IPs; you will simply not get them and there is nothing you can do about it either. Things would change if you i.e. needed a SSL certificate for each of your customer sites; this would then be needed as it is not possible to run a SSL site without an dedicated IP address. Note that RIPE and/or your provider (on requests of RIPE) can check if you really use a particular percentage of the IP's assigned to you at any time, and may pull the slice of IP's when they find they are not used in the correct way. In other words; you have to make clear that you really need the IPs, file a request to RIPE and wait till they give you what you need; this is NOT up to the provider, they are only the facilitator when it comes to giving you dedicated IP's they do not decide if you need them or not.

Thanks guys for your advice and insights on the IP issue. So to sum it up all - what are the top 3 UK hosts that you guys suggest considering all my requirements and budget that I have posted so far.

Posted by TH-Guy, 10-18-2010, 06:31 AM
It's quite hard to get an accurate and fair top 3. Your requirements are relatively standard and common requirements for someone looking for a reseller, except you may have difficulties getting a large number of dedicated IP addresses just because your customers would like them. You should look through the hosts that have posted in this thread and in the offers section (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=130) and once you find a host that you like, do some background checks (i.e. how long has it existed, try and find some reviews etc.), send them an email to test their support and then try them out.

I'd also recommend http://ezpzhosting.co.uk reasonable costs, fast and reliable :}

Posted by nepalhosting, 10-19-2010, 01:10 PM
justhost is the cheapest one I have seen

Posted by Botb, 10-20-2010, 02:48 PM
JustHost may be the cheapest, but there's a reason for that. Don't even go near them. Their customer service is second-worst to none, and there are hundreds of horror stories about them. In my case they charged me the wrong amount, and are refusing to refund me.

Posted by Jennifer Robinson, 10-20-2010, 05:59 PM
Very used to such instances from people.. Probably that is the reason why everyone tries to avoid them..

Posted by blackystrat, 11-01-2010, 04:18 PM
Ok friends - after doing a lot of online research and going through several web hosting review portals, I've zeroed in on webhost.uk.net - I also had a talk with one of their customer support execs and they look pretty professional, friendly and are very fast with their responses. Do any of you guys have any experience with webhost.uk.net? I just wanted to have the final opinion from you all before I switch over to their hosting Thanks once again, you guys have been awesome

Posted by CyberHostPro, 11-01-2010, 04:21 PM
Hi do you have 1000 domains to move to ask for a limit of 1000 domains? if so you may have some issues with reseller hosting with 1000 domains FYI! What is it that attracted you to Webhost.uk.net ? have you looked at the offers section on WHT to see if they or anyone else your interested in have any coupon codes to help discount your package?

Posted by blackystrat, 11-01-2010, 04:42 PM
Chris - I didn't say 1000 domains, I just referenced it as the scope of hosting unlimited domains. The reason why i am attracted to webhost.uk.net is because of all the positive reviews that I read about them everywhere on the web. I haven't yet found a single negative feedback about them. Maybe many of those are fakes - but I doubt if all of them are fake. I also had an hour of chat with their sales rep and inquired everything I had to inquire and they answered the questions quickly and in as much detail as possible. I am not looking for a cheap hosting, but a reliable and cost effective solution. I've had a lot with cheap hosts and sincerely believe "You get what you pay for" - so as long as the services are great, I don't mind paying them their fees.

Posted by CyberHostPro, 11-01-2010, 04:44 PM
Hi Its good to see someone with your attitude! Too many people sadly care about cost over quality now days! so Good for you for not following Good luck with whomever your new provider will be.

Posted by blackystrat, 11-01-2010, 04:45 PM
Thanks Chris Trust me - I'd dealt with a lot of cheap providers and the headache they cause isn't worth the discount

Posted by CyberHostPro, 11-01-2010, 04:47 PM
I've sadly also heard this before from many people! Good luck with your new host

Posted by CraigMesser, 11-01-2010, 04:55 PM
Absolutely agree! Best of luck!

I have been with webhost.uk.net since almost 18 months now and I am very pleased and satisfied with their services and support. They are not of those companies who convince clients just for the sake of sales purpose.. rather they have offered me very good "after sales" support - which other companies usually fail to do so.

Posted by blackystrat, 11-02-2010, 02:47 AM
Thanks for the reassurance

Posted by m8internet, 11-02-2010, 03:55 AM
I was under the impression you were looking for a hosting company in the UK Although the company is based in UK, this Domain Name appears to be in Costa Rica (a reseller) If their servers are in the UK, then why do that?

Posted by mathew12, 11-02-2010, 04:13 AM
i think as per your requirements you will have to choose for the reseller one which you will enlarge it into dedicated. And in 20 GBP you can find the too good hosting company with great bandwidth and larger space

Posted by lady2009, 11-02-2010, 05:20 AM
You're most welcome. I am glad, sharing my experience has helped someone I am not sure what you mean? Which company are you referring to? If its webhost.uk.net, then indeed the domain, company and their servers are in UK. My website is hosted on a UK server. PS : I know its off topic, but I discovered today how to use multi-quote feature while replying All these months I was wondering, how was it possible to reply threads while quoting multiple people in one single post.. But got its answer today

Posted by mdrussell, 11-05-2010, 06:29 PM
No bad reviews at all? Sounds unlikely. Any host of a decent size will encounter a few as it is impossible to please customers all of the time. Some of the recommended hosts don't list their company registration or VAT numbers either so it is worth doing your due diligence on them (any business trading over the web should) or just move on and look for someone more established.
