Starting to offer reseller plans

Posted by Will Hosting, 11-01-2010, 01:17 AM
We're looking into selling reseller plans, what is the ideal reseller plan, what control panel, space, etc.

It all depends on what target audience you are after. Would you mind sharing what you niche is? Will you be using a VPS or Dedicated Server? What's your budget?

This depends on your target, if it's budget start with a plan for 0.49/0.99 per month (annual payment of course)with something like 1 GB space and enough bandwidth.

If you sold hosting at $.99 it would take eight of those customers to pay an employee minimum wage here in Oregon! I personally wouldn't waist my time with that. Depending on your market, price your services wisely. Don't oversell to a limit, and every server has that limit. cPanel is a great control panel, and as to offering reseller plans you could simply get a Master Reseller account and starting reselling resellers, basically. Let us know more specific requirements, as a VPS or Dedicated may be necessary!

i guess you can find lots of vps out there, if you are under a budget get an unmanaged server, if not try going for a managed vps if not experienced with server administration. if you are new the best thing to do is to find a master reseller account and this way you can forget about server administration.

For reselling Reseller plans, I suggest you use a Dedicated server or at least a VPS.

With the level of competition in the reseller hosting industry it requires a lot of factors to be analyzed before getting into the service. People are more certain about the reliability of the host provider, though the prizes may not go beyond the competitors. The location of the servers and the dedicated server will be the key for speed of the service. Most of the people also require the hosting to provide more sophisticated control panels.

I think you should think about costs and what kind of customers you are trying to attract. Meeting their needs.

Just look around and try to compare with other hosts. See what they offer and check what your going to offer. You can start from there.

If you are planning to offer reseller hosting to your customers I would recommend starting with a VPS or a dedicated server as HostXNow mentioned as well. I would personally recommend cPanel, which is a great control panel in hosting industry and offer very good features for your customers. Considering disk space and bandwidth, it depends on how much disk space and bandwidth you have on your VPS or a dedicated server. Also what is the budget you are aiming for?

Same as the above posters have stated, It depends on your budget and your target customers. But, to start off with if you currently are just starting this fresh. I would look into getting a VPS with cPanel/WHM as you can offer Shared Hosting along with Reseller Hosting with full control over the packages, and plans and such.

Do you already have a solid shared hosting customer database? If not, I would recommend first starting there and then branching out into reseller services.
